Walkthrough: Part Three - DBZ: Legacy of Goku II Guide - IGN (2024)

Vegeta Time
Now that we're playing as the vengeance-obsessed Vegeta, we can access his Super Saiyan ability. When the triangle to the left of the status bar is full, select the Saiyan icon as a special attack with the L button. Press B and you'll spend a little bit of time in this much more powerful form. Jump into the ship to head back to Capsule Corporation headquarters on Earth. As you leave the landing area, a scientist will ask you to invite any remaining Nameks you encounter to report in to the corporation for a free trip home. This is another quest that we'll come back to later.

Now we're supposed to go looking for the rest of the DBZ crew, but there's certainly time to stop by Roshi's place to teach Vegeta the Two-Handed Smash Technique. Once that's done, head to the southern continent as marked on your map. You've arrived just in time to watch the fireworks between Goku and the androids.

Once you're back in control of Vegeta, take on the nasty, bomb-throwing tigers and explore the area. Directly to the west you'll find a Golden Capsule, in the southeast corner you'll find a save point, and in the eastern section you'll find a door that only a level 15 Gohan can open. Head north from here and you'll find an area with a energy fence guarding a path. Kill all the Ladybugs here and the fence will be disabled.

From here, take the westward path to find a Golden Capsule. Backtrack to the gate and take the northern path to watch Goku succumb to his sickness just as he's whupping one of the androids. Now it's your job to stop Android Number 19.

In order to do any significant damage to 19, you need to be in Super Saiyan form. Run as far away from him as you can and make the transformation. Now use all the melee attacks at your disposal to slowly whittle down his health. Even after you run out of Saiyan power you can still harm him...a bit. Just don't use energy attacks, as they actually give him life back. If you find yourself being repeatedly killed, you may want to do some experience building. He's not so tough once you're up to level 25 or so.

After defeating 19, you can switch between Vegeta, Gohan and Piccolo at the save points. Before you head north into the canyon that Vegata blasted, you may want to backtrack and do some level-building. You're best off if everybody is at least at level 20.

You'll also want to revisit that room to the south that only Gohan could pass through. Inside you'll find a few scorpions, a +3 Strength Capsule, and another exit across the bridge to the right. Head back outside and fight your way through the scorpions and snakes. In the far east of this area you'll find a +1 Endurance Capsule. Head south from here and you'll find a +1 endurance capsule, and see a Golden Capsule below guarded by a T-Rex. To reach this, Head east at every turn starting from the area entrance until you reach the stairs leading into the dino's lair. Kill him with an extended barrage of energy blasts, grab the Capsule, and leave this area.

Okay, now it's time to head through the canyon north of where you fought Android 19. Take the flight circle you find and it's time to fight Android 20! This battle is more or less identical to the fight with 19, only 20 is a bit more powerful. If you've bothered to level up enough you shouldn't have any more of a problem than you did with the last guy.

Now that Trunks has returned and you've learned the identity of number 20, you've got to go hunt down Dr. Gero's lab in the Northern Mountains. First, though, take a detour to west city. The mayor's house, which was blocked by a locked gate before, is now open. In here you'll find an Access Card for West City Apartments B in the chest by the bed, as well as a Golden Capsule and one of the Missing Nameks. Use your new key to enter apartment B in the southwest corner of the city, and on the top floor you'll find the second Missing Namek. Once that's done, head for the Northern Mountains as marked on your overworld map.

Northern Mountains

The first thing you'll want to do here is head south at the save point. Guarded by a bunch of warthogs is a Golden Capsule. Head north from the save point and you'll find a door that only a level 25 Gohan can break. Gain the necessary experience if you don't already have it and bust through the door. Just east of the entrance, around the wall of trees, is a Golden Capsule. Head north from here and fight your way through the wolves and tigers until you come across...gasp! A +5 Strength Capsule! Sweet!

Okay, now head back to the save point and take the westward path. Keep moving and you'll eventually come across a door that only a level 30 Piccolo can open. We'll come back here when he's got some more experience. Continue along the path, grabbing the +3 Power capsule to your left just past the lake. Just north of here you'll run into Android 20/Dr. Gero again. He's a lot stronger than before, but you only need to take off about a fifth of his life before he runs away. Continue up the path until you reach the next save point.

If you go west here, you'll find a door that only Goku can open. We'll return later. For now, take the north path. Here your path is blocked by an energy fence and a whole bunch of angry robots. In order to pass through the fence you'll have to find and destroy the three nearby generators. First, take the path to the East and you'll hit the first generator immediately. Destroy the three glowing yellow lights on side and move along. When you reach the bridge you'll be confronted by Dr. Gero. Take off another quarter of his life and he'll flee again.

Just past here, head north and you'll find a Golden Capsule at the top of a looping path. Continue on, following the path as it goes up a windy mountain. You'll eventually reach another generator, this one protected by a rather large, but friendly dinosaur who's using the heat to warm her eggs. In order to destroy the generator, you'll have to help her move her eggs. Grab them with the A button, then head back down the mountain. You can't attack while you're holding the egg, and if you're hit the egg will break, forcing you to go back and grab a new one.

Here we have one of the most frustrating parts of the game. Use Vegeta's Super Saiyan ability to raise your speed, then try to lure the enemies towards you, dodging past them at the last moment. The fact of the matter is that you'll likely lose a ton of eggs before you get this right.

Once that's out of the way, be sure to destroy the generator, grab the Golden Capsule down the path just south of the generator, and head back down the mountain.

Now that we're back at area with the energy fence, we'll take the path to the west. Once again, you'll be confronted by Dr. Gero. Persistent, ain't he? Take his life bar down to about to about 1/4 and he'll retreat again. Head south after crossing the bridge to find a Golden Capsule in a cul de sac.

Continue along the westward path and you'll find a level 50 Vegeta door that we'll come back to much, much later. Head South from here and you'llcome across a +3 Endurance Capsule. Just past you'll run into Yajirobe again, who'll give you yet another Senzu Bean. Return to where that imposing level 50 door was and head west.

After you see the cutscene involving the Party house, head south to find a small village. The residents are all going nutso because of the Party house owner's loud obnoxious music. We all know how that is. Be sure to grab the +3 Power Capsule Just south of the village, then head north and take the west path in the area where you're attacked by eggbots. Follow this path to its inevitable conclusion to find a Golden Capsule.

Head back to the area with the eggbots, and go north this time. As you head through the cave, you'll go through a room full of multi-colored switches. Ignore these for now and keep going. Before you enter the Party house, be sure to grab the +3 Strength Capsule on the ledge behind it. Break those stupid flamingos and Garden Gnomes while you're at it too. Inside Vinnie's house you'll notice a locked door. This door is controlled by those switches we passed earlier.
